What is NEOnet?
NEOnet is a non-profit corporation that focuses on technology development projects. It is like an economic development corporation, except that it works exclusively on technology projects, and it represents a large region, instead of just a single community. NEOnet is based in Timmins, but has a catchment area that includes the Cochrane and Timiskaming regions (plus Gogama and Foleyet) and Board representation from throughout the area. For more information, try clicking on our Corporate Profile link.

How are you funded?
NEOnet does not own any infrastructure or manage any networks, so we have no revenue-generating capacity. We receive no ongoing operational funding from the government. We do, however, ask for support in the form of membership fees and partnership contributions. We also take a small project management fee from projects that we facilitate on behalf of the private and public sectors. Stakeholder support continues to be critical to our ongoing sustainability.

How can I join the Board?
Any member in good standing is eligible to run for a position on the Board of Directors. Simply send a letter to the Chair outlining your qualifications and what you could contribute to the Board, and attach your resume. NEOnet staff will confirm receipt of the letter and submit your name as a candidate at the next Annual General Meeting.

NEOnet works on technology project, but is not a technical organization. Most of our staff have business, marketing or communications backgrounds. While technical education is an asset, our focus is more about creating partnerships, working with people, and managing projects.
