On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, Phil Barton and Kait-Lynn Gooch travelled to the Temiskaming Shores area for BEAM client visits and delivered workshops within the communities. Kait-Lynn partnered with South Temiskaming Community Futures Development Corporation and the Academic Upgrading Department at Northern College, for 2 presentations and an additional presentation with Enterprise Temiskaming and their Starter Company participants.
The presentations with South Temiskaming CFDC and Northern College engaged 19 students and business members of the communities in multiple topics. In the morning Kait-Lynn covered introductory materials to protecting yourself online, a brief overview of Cyber Security (what it is, and how it can impact you), social media security and social media etiquette. In the early afternoon, the topics covered with the remaining participants were: steps to create a page or a group on Facebook, and expanding their knowledge of using Social Media.
The evening presentation with Enterprise Temiskaming and Starter Company, Phil Barton, provided an introduction to our BEAM and STAMP programs, then Kait-Lynn provided a presentation on Branding, Marketing and Social Media. As the presentation progressed there were a lot of ideas being exchanged for their businesses. We look forward to continuing our partnerships with the organizations and upcoming business owners.
