Members of NEOnet and the Productivity and Innovation Centre (PIC) attended the Northeastern Ontario Municipal Association (NEOMA) annual meeting in Fauquier on March 4, 2016. We wanted to hear what was going on across our region and, ensure that regional representatives were up to date on our projects and programs and make connections to explore regional opportunities for NEOnet.
Paul Ouimette and Ana Blouin presented to over 60 municipal representatives that included mayors and municipal councillors. They discussed our achievements in 2015 such as:
- The strong uptake in Broadband for E-Commerce and Marketing (BEAM) clients across the region.
- Our new program – Small Business Assessment Monitoring Program (STAMP)
- Our GIS project – The 911 dispatch and cemetery RFP’s were awarded, and work is proceeding on schedule. We are now in discussions to finalize the GIS aerial imaging requirements with The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF). We are optimistic that we should be able to finalize the scope of work by early April and have things wrapped up by spring 2016.
They also outlined our plans for 2016 which include continuing and solidifying our partnership with the Productivity and Innovation Centre (PIC). We are working towards supporting PIC into becoming a Regional Innovation Centre (RIC) for Northeastern Ontario.
