Access to quality high-speed broadband networks is an important facet of a thriving community. The social and economic fabric of our communities are becoming increasingly digitized, and it has become imperative to include all Canadians in this digital world.
To bridge the digital divide between larger cities, and rural and remote communities, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) has made increasing broadband coverage to Canadians a top priority moving forward. A proposed budget of $500 million over the next five years will be used for a new program to extend and enhance broadband in rural and remote communities.
More information on this program should be available to NEOnet in the fall.
